My biggest problem is that I have a literary mindset. How in Holy Hell could that be a problem? Well, if you do stand up, it's a big problem.
Having performed very steadily for the past six months, I can say with some certainty that the literary mindset is not one that helps on stage at the proverbial Chuckle Hutch. Let's just say that their average clientele definitely never reads the New Yorker and almost certainly couldn't point it out to you on a map. You're dealing with idiots. But I suppose this is the downfall of every artform that has been dragged into the popular sphere... You want the audience? You make boob jokes. That's just how it has to go down.
