Here is a short essay I wrote in college on Hispanic life which shares some of my thoughts.
The Mexican Americans of this country have a history that reveals some of their struggles throughout the 19th and early 20th century. There have been past speculations about the Hispanic culture, that have lead to a misunderstanding on how they have effected the Southwest region of the United States. California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas have all been influenced by Mexican American labor.
Now here's a no-holds-barred account of Islam, with a few reputable quotes thrown in for good measure. There's a part of me that disagrees that Islam should be "wiped out," but then again, I have no problems with the idea that Nazism and Communism should be wiped out. So why such compunctions against Islam, which by its very nature has just as inherent a potential for violence againt non-Muslims.
A quote:
This is why sanctions are not going to prevent Iran’s development of nuclear weapons. But inasmuch as such weapons would enable Iran not only to destroy Israel but also dominate Saudi Arabia and thereby control the oil on which the world’s economy depends, the Iranian regime and its nuclear facilities must be destroyed—and without being squeamish about civilian casualties.
"Those ignorant of history, are doomed to repeat it... repeat it...repeat it...repeat it..."
"American history goes from Sally Rand to Tallyrand and back -- Thank God"
More on Putin's Orwellian attempts to convert Russia to a true dictatorship. It appears that the Kremlin has been rewriting textbooks (which, of course, begin the indoctrination at the earliest stages of a person's life) to distort Russian and Sovient history.
A money quote:
The book describes Josef Stalin as “the most successful Soviet leader ever” and dismisses the prison labour camps and mass purges as a necessary part of his drive to make the country great. The manuals are intended to serve as the basis for developing new textbooks in schools next year, though Education Ministry officials insisted that they would not be compulsory.
Not compusory. I'm sure.
Regarding the American system of government...
The checks long since have been cached, and the balances are zero.
Time to impeach.
I was fond of the original 7 Wonders of the World. The fact that most of them no longer exist merely added to their mystique. The new seven simply don't have the same impression on me.
I've always imagined that Putin's read Orwell's 1984. Here's proof.
Any question that Russia is returning to the ways of the Soviet Union should be answered by now.
The worst rail disaster in Victoria’s living history has claimed 11 people while 3 passengers still remain unaccounted for. The crash occurred on the Murray Valley Highway crossing on the Swan Hill to Melbourne Train.
The Honorable Mr Steve Bracks, Premier for Victoria stated "This is a tragedy which is going to obviously reverberate around Victoria for some time to come.”
The level crossing was marked only with lights and sirens. There were no boom gates. A freight carrying semi-trailer went straight through the crossing, colliding with the third carriage of the passenger train. The first two carriages continued for 500 metres while the third lay strewn across the tracks and the remaining two carriages de-railing.
23 people remain critically or seriously injured as the search continues this morning.
